OUTREACH CONCERTS

Kate is an active performer for children’s concerts and outreach concerts in Hampshire. She regularly performs for the ABC concert series and Musical Munchkins in Ringwood, Hampshire and for Hartwood House, a residential care home. She has over 10 years experience on the Lost Chord scheme, a charity based scheme in Yorkshire providing interactive musical sessions throughout year designed to stimulate responses from dementia sufferers through the media of music, song and dance. Music, and the harp in particular, boosts self esteem and promotes well being among dementia sufferers and those with dementia like symptoms in residential homes and day centres. With 15 coloured lap harps and numerous props , these concerts whether for the old or young are interactive and create musical memories for all involved.

TEACHING

Kate is the Harp Professor at the University of Southampton, the Portsmouth Grammar School and runs a thriving teaching practice for all ages and levels from her home in Portsmouth, UK.

Kate owns a Salvi Diana Concert harp, an electro-acoustic Pilgrim Skylark (small lever harp) and 15 Derwent lap harps (20 strings). She is able to offer private teaching on all instruments. The Skylark lever harp is perfect for both adults or young children as it is smaller in size, less expensive and easy to transport. For very small fingers, the lap harps are a great, affordable place to start!

Lesson prices are £35 per hour or £22.50 per half hour.

If you are interested in taking up the harp, please have a look at the following websites for advice on renting and/or purchasing your first harp:
